To blog or to Journal

I am doing a novel study with a small group of sixth graders and would like to have them do frequent, maybe daily , short written responses. Would blogging or journals be the best venue ? I'm not really familiar with either of them. Just what we are learning in class.

technology in the classroom

I am finding it hard to keep up with this. I am also concerned about keeping my privacy especially dealing with kids.
